1936 4d registered envelope to Germany with an Air 1/- and pair of Air 4d’s, cancelled DOCKS, CAPE TOWN 18 JUN 36. A DOCKS, CAPE TOWN registration h/s is at the lower left. This cover would have arrived on a ship and then sent to the airfield for onward transmission to Germany. The pair of 4d would have been the LATE FEE charge, the acceptance of registered articles between 1 hour and 90 minutes after the closing of the registered letter mail for overseas destinations incurring an 8d fee. A Lichtenstein – Callinberg 28.6.36 arrival datestamp is on the back. Fine and very uncommon.
