CAPTCHA Image
1915 South West Africa - 1915 picture post card of Gibeon, endorsed On Active Service to Natal with a blue boxed Field Post Office handstamp number 37, dated 16 MAY 1915. The card was written on May 5 at Gibeon but only entered the postal service 11 days later at KUIBIS which is where this F.P.O. was located. In Putzels book Postmarks of German South West Africa etc on page 516 he mentions this card and implies that this card could disprove the F.P.O. being at Kuibis ! However on page 299 under Kuibis, he states that the F.P.O. there opened on 14 May, so it is more than likely that F.P.O. 37 was there. He rates this handstamp as rare.
