1918 Tanganyika / Portuguese East Africa. - 1918 envelope from Mold, Wales, to Lt. Goddard, R.A.M.C. Military Labour Bureau, Dar Es Salaam, but on arrival forwarded to him at the Amunition Column, Pamforce and endorsed at the lower left corner C/O O.C. No. 2C Slat Hosp, Porto Amelia. PAMFORCE was an abbreviation for Port Amelia Force. This force landed at Porto Amelia in northern Portuguese East Africa with the intention of cutting off Von Lettow, who was being forced south and into the Portuguese territory. A very rare incoming cover to a member of PAMFORCE.

1918 Tanganyika / Portuguese Eat Africa - 1918 picture post card (Bombay) to Pretoria, South Africa, endorsed “On Active Service” with an F.P.O. No. 345 27 NO 18 I.E.F. datestamp. This canceller was very briefly at QUELIMANE at that time, having been in Beira prior to that (From 27 August 1918). A very rare card from a South African serviceman with the British forces, and Indian Post Offices in Portuguese East Africa are exceptionally rare.

An Umtali 28 JUL 17 arrival cancel is on the back. Between November 1916 and early 1918 F.P.O. 3 was at Tandala. The cover has been censored at the lower left.

1918 Tanganyika / Nyasaland Field Force - 1918 censored On Active Service cover to London with a poor strike of F.P.O. 8 25 MAR 18, the 8 being impressed only. Censored in the lower left corner by Lt. Col. Stevens, 4/1 K.A.R. (Kings African Rifles) this bears out the 8 in the datestamp as this F.P.O. was in the Mbamba Bay area in early 1918 and the Kings African Rifles were in that area as well.

1916 Tanganyika / Nyasaland Field Force - 1916 censored cover to Portugal endorsed On Active Service with a manuscript July 4th 1916, that has a violet boxed POSTAGE FREE / BASE 6. N. RHODESIA / PASSED BY CENSOR cachet, and a censor label applied in London. A Lisbon 16.9.16 arrival cancel is on the back. Lieutenant Vaughan, the writer, was in the Kings African Rifles and was killed in action on 4 May 1918. In July 1916 this censor cachet was with B Company, British South Africa Police in Lt.  Col. Murrays No. 1 Column at NEW LANGENBUG.

Light discolouration to part of the card but an  unusual cachet to be found on mail emanating out of internal Tanganyika.

A straight line PASSED BY CENSOR handstamp is on the card. The mission station at Wuga is known for the printing of the two provisional stamps issued by the Germans in 1916, the 2½ and 7½ Heller, known as the Wuga Provisionals.
