1946 - 1946 registered envelope to England bearing a Victory 1d and 3d cancelled Georgetown OC 8 1946. A violet boxed DAMAGED BY SEA-WATER handstamp has been applied to the front of the envelope.  It is possible that the bag containing the mails fell in to the water on arrival in England, as mail is also known from Jamaica dated October 14 with the same cachet. Very few covers are known from this incident, only about three or four from the Cayman Islands.

On the face of the envelope are Bodentown and Georgetown AP 12 11 transit and arrival datestamps. The envelope has been very slightly reduced at the left where opened. Only about 40 covers are recorded with this cancellation and this is the second earliest date known. A very fine and rare commercial cover using this domestic d rate with this canceller.
