1801 (1st Nov) folded letter to Glasgow from Kingston, with a manuscript “pr Eliz. Packet” at the lower left, and a 2/2d charge mark on the front. There is an arrival DEC 29 1801 datestamp and a fine large oval framed 'PD' handstamp in purple. This handstamp (Proud PD 2) was, until this letter was found, only known in black ink, and there are only one or two known. This purple handstamp is unique. An exceptionally fine and rare item.
