1894 double rate cover to England, with original contents, with a pair of 2½d's tied by a BARBADOS DE 1 94 'bootheel' duplex cancel. A straight line 'POSTED ON BRITISH PACKET' cachet is on the front of the cover, which would have been handed to the ships captain in Castries before entering the postal system in Bridgetown, Barbados. A scarce small boxed 'G.N. / S.C.' cachet denoting the Great Northern Sorting Carriage is on the front of the cover. On the back is a Bury St Edmunds DE 13 94 arrival cancel. Interesting letter contents on events in Castries! Cover faults from being roughly opened at the top, but an uncommon item.
