1897 early incoming registered envelope from India to Lahad Datu, cancelled Karachi City 9 DE 97. A boxed 'Maldirige' handstamp is on the front of the cover that was applied at Aden. On the back are Sea Post 11 DE 97, Aden DE 15 97, Singapore JA 3 98 and Sandakan 11 JAN 1898. There was no receiving datestamp as Lahad Datu had not been issued with a canceller at that time. This cover is believed to be the earliest recorded incoming cover to Lahad Datu from outside North Borneo.
