1897 envelope to Pietermaritzburg, Natal, bearing a pair of ½d's cancelled by two very fine strikes of the rare violet R.M. OFFICE, HLABISA, 12 DEC 1897 datestamp. On the reverse is a blue LOWER UMFOLOSI 13 DEC, Eshowe DE 15, Durban 16 DE and a Pietermaritzburg 17 DEC 97 transit and arrival cancels. The Post Office at Hlabisa was opened in 1893. A very fine and rare cover.
