WOLMARANSSTAD. 1900 Transvaal 1d rose-red and green postal stationery card overprinted 'Cancelled V – R – I. with the 'Cancelled' set to the left and being partially off the stamp. The overprinting of these cards were done by John L Clouston. Wolmaransstad was occupied by a small British contingent under the command of Lt. C G Huddleston from 15 June 1900 until 27 July 1900, when he evacuated the town believing that a large Boer force was heading that way. The Boers stayed in control of the town until early 1901. All the Wolmaransstad overprinted stamps, cards and envelopes were done in that 6 week period. Rare, with only a few postal stationery items known.
