1916 envelope to Windhuk bearing a South African Kings Head 1d tied by the very scarce manuscript 'F H N' (of FELDSCHUHHORN) between two lines with the date 16. 3. 16 beneath. This is the cover that Putzel has used for his illustration of this canceller, which he notes as being 'extremely rare'. (Page 218 in his book Postmarks of South West Africa) A feint boxed censor cachet is on the front of the cover, on the back are Keetmanshoop 17 MAR and Windhuk 19 MAR 16 transit and arrival cancels. Some ironed out creasing to the cover that does not effect the stamp or cancel.
