On June 22, 1933, the Spanish motor vessel Cabo San Antonio sailed from Buenos Aires for Genoa. On 9 July she put into Las Palmas (Canary Islands) with a fire in her mail room and No. 7 hold. This was extinguished by the crew, but not before 387 mail bags had been destroyed and another 212 bags damaged. The damaged mail was both burnt and damaged by sea water when the hold was flooded to extinguish the fire. Mail received a boxed three line boxed cachet, that was struck in purple. 'Correspondence brulee a bord du paquebot Cabo S. Antomio.' This cover has a fine example of the cachet.
