WABASH RANGE UT. On 11 January 1930 the Western Air Express flight from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City crashed into a mountain of the Wabash Range and was not found until June 24. The pilot was killed. He mail was salvaged undamaged and returned to Los Angeles, where it received a “Return to the Writer / Unclaimed” machine cancel in green ink, dated June 28, 1930, 10:00 A.M. and a magenta cachet ‘Delay due to wrecked mail plane / January 10, 1930’
