ELBA ISLAND, ITALY. On January 10th 1954he B.O.A.C. flight from Singapore to London made a stop at Rome at 10:30 a.m. A short time after takeoff, the aircraft crashed near Elba Island. All occupants, including the pilot, were killed. The following day, postal bags were recovered by a fishing boat and taken to Genoa by the steamer “Persia”. The covers bear various cachets.
