1954 SHANNON, IRELAND. On 5 September 1954 a K.L.M. Lockheed Constellation that was en route from Amsterdam to New York stopped to refuel at Shannon Airport. A minute or so after taking of the tail touched the water and the plane crashed into the mud killing the pilot, two crew members and 23 passengers. Recovered mil received a single line cachet 'SALVAGED FROM K.L.M. CRASH AT SHANNON.
