1930 cover from BAHAMAS with two 6d stamps (another has been washed off in the incident) cancelled NASSAU 1 FEB 30. On February 3rd the plane struck an observation tower at Brainard Field, Hartford, and crashed into the Connecticut River killing the pilot. A violet two line cachet was applied to the damaged and water soaked mail. ‘Received at Hartford, Conn. / in damaged condition.’ A very unusual origination for a letter from this incident.
