BOMB ON BOARD. 1967 cover from New York to Nicosia, Cyprus, that was on the British Airways flight from London to Cyprus on October 12 1967 that crashed into the sea near Rhodes in the Mediterranean. It was later established that a bomb on board had exploded, killing all 7 crew and 59 passengers. A small amount of mail was recovered at a later date. Turkish terrorists were suspected but it was never proven. A blue cachet in Greek was applied stating ‘Salvaged correspondence / from the recent / airline disaster’. Most of the mail on this flight was from Europe. Mail from the USA is very uncommon. A very scarce cover from this terrorist incident.
