1931 CAROLINA , BRAZIL. On 3 February 1931 a Pan American Grace Airways Fairchild FC-2 was en route from Rio de Janeiro to New York when it crashed at Carolina, Brazil. There were no fatalities but the recovered mail was badly damaged by fire. This cover to England, endorsed ‘via New York’ was in this incident. Very uncommon.
