The United Air Lines flight from San Francisco to Chicago crashed into Crystal Mountain near Fort Collins on June 30 1951, killing all 50 passengers and crew on board. Recovered mail had a 4 line cachet applied ‘DELAY CAUSED BY / AIR MAIL INTERRUPTION / NEAR DENVER / DATE 6 30 51’. This cover , posted free from a sailor on the U.S.S.
