‘KONINGIN JULIANA’ GERMANY. On 22 March 1952 the KLM Douglas DC4 “Koningin Juliana” on a flight from Johannesburg to Amsterdam hit a tree and caught fire while landing at Frankfurt Airport, killing 45 passengers and crew. This interesting air letter was written in London but only posted on board the RMS Orontes where it got a Paquebot cancel. It went into the post at Naples and then on to the KLM flight. On arrival in Amsterdam it received an explanatory label. A fine and very unusual item.
