MINNEAPOLIS, U.S.A. On March 7th the Northwestern Airlines flight from Washington to Minneapolis struck a flag pole 3 miles from the airport when the pilot, D B Jones, was trying to perform an instrument landing. The plane burst into flames, damaging the mail, part of which was salvaged and forwarded in penalty envelopes with a mimeo explanation slip. This was dated 13 March, a week after the incident.
