‘PORTLAND’ BAHRAIN. The B.O.A.C. flying boat ‘Portland’ flying ‘the Dragon Route’ from Hong Kong to London crashed while landing at Bahrain on 23rd August 1947. The recovered mail received a boxed ‘DAMAGED BY SEA WATER’. This cachet came as either a single line or two lines. This cover from Madras, India, is endorsed 'Forces Mail'. It has a boxed two line cachet 'DAMAGED BY / SEA WATER'.
