PYRENEES 1938 The Air France the mail plane struck a mountain peak near Cinq Croix, about one kilometer from Las Indis mines in the Pyrenees mountains. The point of the crash was at an altitude of 2400 meters from the summit. After striking the peak, it turned over and rolled into a ravine. A search party was organized and left during the night in a snowstorm. They arrived at the site of the crash after a three hour hike from Corsavy. The four passengers and three crew members were killed. The recovered mail was composed of four sacks intact and seven others broken apart. This cover is from Sao Paolo, Brazil and has a blue cachet.
