1954 “BELFAST” SINGAPORE. On 13 March 1954 the B.O.A.C. Lockheed Constellation “Belfast”, en route from Australia to London, overturned on landing at Kallang Airport, Singapore. It burst into flames killing 32 passengers and 2 crew. Seven crew members managed to escape. Salvaged mail, mostly burned, was forwarded with a boxed explanatory cachet ‘SALVAGED MAIL / AIRCRAFT CRASH / SINGAPORE 13.3.1954’. This cover to London was sent from Auckland, New Zealand
