1954 PHILIPPINES AIRLINES DOUGLAS DC6, ROME. On its’ approach into Ciampino Airport, Rome, the aircraft went into a steep dive and crashed into the ground killing all on board. Severe turbulence was suggested as to the cause of the crash. This badly burned cover from Japan to London has a black ‘AIRCRAFT CRASH / DAMAGED IN P.A.L. AIRCRAFT CRASH’ and a purple ‘DAMAGED IN / P.A.L. AIRCRAFT CRASH’ both on the front of the cover.
