1909 BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION 1907 envelope to J Kinsey, Christchurch, New Zealand, with a King Edward VII Land overprinted 1d cancelled BRIT. ANTARCTIC EXPD. MR 4 09. Joseph Kinsey was the official New Zealand agent for the Expedition. The cover was posted at Cape Royds post office in McMurdo Sound, King Edward VII Land. Shackleton had been sworn in as postmaster before a New Zealand magistrate prior to his sailing to Antarctica. The post office at Cape Royds closed on March 4th 1909 when the “Nimrod” sailed from Cape Royds to New Zealand, arriving at Lyttelton on 25th March. Fine.
