Basutoland

Ref: G3239
  • £30.00

1947 cover to England with a block of six ‘Royal Visit’ 2d, paying the 1/- air mail rate to the U.K. The stamps have been cancelled by two strikes of the seldom seen MASHAI 9 APR 47 datestamps. Mashai was a postal agency in the mountains of eastern Basutoland that was under Qacha’s Nek 33 miles to the south, although by road it was over 90 miles away. A very remote village!!
