1897 1d postal card to Italy, addressed to Madam Jalla, the mother of the missionary Louis Jalla at the New Vale Mission Station. An indistinct barred (281) numeral cancels the stamp and a MASERU JY 30 97 datestamp is beneath. Cape Town SP 2 Luserna 26 9 97 and Capri 27 SE 97 transit and arrival cancels are on the card. The card is reporting on the arrival of Ivan Mercier’s arrival and journey to Palapye, Bechuanaland.
