1889 cover to France with a ½d, 3d on 3d with the ‘O’ in Protectorate virtually missing and a 6d on 6d, tied by barred ‘676’ cancels with a SHOSHONG JA 1 89 datestamp at the base of the cover. A Mafeking JA 8 89 transit cancel is on the front of the cover, on the back are Cape Town JA 15 and Paris 5 FE 89 cancels, Cover faults and some light staining around the stamps but a very rare cover from this remote post office that, in 1889, only had a postal service every second week, the runners taking 5 days to get to Molepolole, the nearest larger town.
