1922 DUTY 5½d size ‘G’ registered envelope to Mafeking with a ½d and three 2d added, cancelled PALLA ROAD 13 JUN 22. The registered postage rate was 6d, (4d registration and 2d postage) the extra 6d postage applied here would have been insurance, as the envelope was going to the Standard Bank, Mafeking, and most probably contained cash. A scarce insured cover from Palla Road, a small village situated in the heart of the Bangwato territory, on the edge of the Kalahari Desert mid-way between Gaborone and Francistown.
