1901 censored cover (backflap missing) to a P.O.W. Jan Joubert, originally addressed to Naauwpoort Rest Camp (!!) but then forwarded to Bermuda with a 1d cancelled by a barred ‘508’ with a HANOVER OC 21 01 cancel alongside. A Bloemfontein 20 NO 01 cancel is also on the front, on the back are Naauwpoort 23 OC, Bloemfontein 24 OC 01 and Hamilton Bermuda JA 6 02 transit and arrival cancels. On arrival in Bermuda the cover did the rounds of the camps there trying to find the addressee. ‘Not Darrells,’ ‘Try Tuckers’ ‘Not Hawkins’ and ‘Try New Gaol’ manuscript markings are on the front of the cover. A colourful cover. One wonders where Joubert was found.
