1901 cover endorsed ‘On Active Service, Africa’ with a Transvaal 1d overprinted E.R.I. to Mornington, Victoria, Australia, the stamp cancelled by a FIELD POST OFFICE ‘25’ AU 17 01 datestamp. Pietermaritzburg 20 AU transit and Mornington SE 20 01 arrival cancels are on the back. The use of the E.R.I. overprinted stamps to Australia is rare. A fine cover from a an Australian serving in the Boer War.
