1900 cover to ‘Lydenburg Lager’ with a Transvaal 1d cancelled by a two line violet ‘Veld Dienst / Lydenburg Lager’ h/s. A signed censor m/s with a Pilgrims Rest h/s is at the lower left. It is believed, though not confirmed, that the Boers at this time at Lydenburg was a unit from Swaziland and it was this unit that used this makeshift cancel. Lydenburg was captured by the British in December 1900. Minor cover faults but a very rare cachet on cover.
