1898 incoming G.B. 2½d postal stationary envelope to the Zambesi Industrial Mission, Blantyre Province, cancelled St John’s Wood AP 22 98. CHINDE JU 7 and BLANTYRE 15 JU 98 transit and arrival cancels are on the back of the cover. The Zambesi Industrial Mission was founded by Joseph Booth in 1892, an independent and radical clergyman whose aim was to create a self-supporting mission providing African converts with the educational, technical and economic skills. As the mission needed to become self-supporting, Booth decided to locate it close to the existing commercial centre and market of Blantyre. A fine and early incoming cover to this Mission.
