1897 2a6p on 4a6p envelope overprinted British East Africa that has the error ‘BIRTISH for BRITISH. used locally with a MOMBASA 7 JY 1897 datestamp. Exceedingly rare, the only one I have ever seen or heard of. A small tear below the embossed stamp is hardly noticeable and does not detract. A major East African rarity.
