1898 long commercial cover (10½ inches) to England from Bousted Ridley, with the remarkable franking of two 1A, a 4A and a pair of 8As (22 annas in total) all tied by MOMBASA 2 AU 98 cancels. This rate represents a 4oz registered letter, 2½As x 8 and 2As registration, but no registration seems to have taken place. The cover has sensibly been folded at the left. Some cover faults as can be expected but a fantastic and extremely rare franking.
