1897 1d newspaper wrapper to Austria cancelled SNEEZEWOOD 5 MR 97. An arrival cancel of 5 April is on the back. Sneezewood is a small village in the north eastern Cape in the Griqualand East area. The village was named after a local tree, the sneezewood tree, a hard and close grained wood. When worked, this wood causes irritation in the nose, hence its’ name. An uncommon cancel.
