1911 picture post card to Johannesburg with a ½d tied by a fine strike of the uncommon BOWESDORP DE 20 11 datestamp. In the Namaqualand District, Bowesdorp was established as a village by the Dutch Reform Church in 1864, but did not flourish and by the mid 1870’s only had a population of 90. By the early 1920’s it was abandoned and became a ghost town. A seldom seen canceller.
