1883 cover to Cape Town with a strip of four ½d’s overprinted ‘G’ for use in Griqualand West cancelled KIMBERLEY JU 30 83. A Cape Town receiving cancel is on the back. Griqualand West was incorporated int to the Cape in October 1880 and the stamps that remained were sent back to Cape Town and redistributed to towns around the Cape Province. It is interesting to see that some must have been returned to Kimberley for use there as this cover was posted nearly 3 years after their stamps were returned.
