1884 printed H.M.S. London cover to Birmingham, this being changed to H.M.S. Humber, from Michael Sullivan, Skilled Shipwright, also endorsed ‘Suez’ and signed by Lieutenant Herbert C Sayce to get the 2d concession rate. The 2d stamp was cancelled ‘F B’ in a barred circle applied on arrival in London The letter was placed in a Navy bag and went on the P&O Siam which left Suez on March 31st. The mail was transferred to the P&O Mongolia that left Alexandria for Brindisi on 4th April, arriving London April 7 and Birmingham the same day. The ‘Humber had just returned from Suakin where it was from 1st March to 23rd March. It had disembarked horses and men and taken on wounded soldiers and prisoners from the fighting in the Sudan.
