G. B. BOMB DELAYED. 1941 cover to Bury, Lancashire, with a 2½d cancelled SKIPTON 14 MAR 1941 that was at Leeds Post Office on the night of 14th March when, over a 2½ hour period, 40 German bombers attacked Leeds with incendiary bombs and then high explosive bombs. Over 4500 houses were damaged and 65 people were killed. This was the most intense bombing of Leeds at any time during the War. Mail recovered from this incident received a boxed cachet ‘DELAYED THROUGH / ENEMY ACTION’. A rare cover from this incident, less than 10 believed to exist
