G. B. WW II. 1940 cover from Beckenham (8 NOV0 to Anerley with an arrival cancel of 13 NOV 40 on the back, then forwarded to Bristol. A manuscript ‘Damaged by enemy action’ is written on the front of the cover, the back has a ‘Found Open or Damaged’ label. Anerley is a suburb in south east London, and the distance from Beckenham is only 3 miles, so a 5 day delay, which was probably caused by the bombing raids on London at that time. An interesting cover. The addressee, Miss Daniels, was probably an evacuee out of London.
