NEU GUINEA. 1907 cover sent registered internally to Stephansort with a 30pf cancelled HERBERTSHOHE 5.9.07. A Matupi registration label with the ‘Matupi crossed through and a ‘Herbertshohe’ h/s across the label is on the front of the cover. Fredrich-Wilhelmshafen 8/9/07 transit and Stephansort 9/9/07 arrival cancels are on the front of the cover. Matupi was a small village on the peninsular south of Rabaul. Presumably they had run out of registration labels in Herbertshohe and they had an excess in Matupi. An interesting internally sent registered cover. Bothe expertisation h/s on the back.
