1904 ‘Feld Postkarte’ to Germany with a straight line OKAHANDJA wanderstampel and a DEUTSCH-SUDWESTAFRIKA 2/3/04 datestamp. An arrival cancel of 3.4.04 is on the front of the card. Also with the card is a 1m with the same OKAHANDJA cancel of 1904. On 12th January 1904 Okahandja was looted by the Hereros. The Postal Agent escaped to the Fortress at Okahandja with the cash box and stamps but the canceller was stolen. The fortress was besieged by the Hereros until relieved on 27th January by German troops. A new canceller came into service there on 15th March. This wanderstempel was only used from 2nd February to 15th March. A scarce pair of items..
