1935 cover to Australia with a 2d tied by a fine strike of the scarce large grey – blue GILBERT & ELLICE ISLANDS COLONY P. O. MARAKEI. (Proud D2). There are no other postal markings, but according to Proud this has only been recorded used in 1935. A very fine example of this scarce cancellation.
