CRIMEA WAR. 1855 cover to a member of the 3rd Light Dragoons, Manchester, sent from Exeter (JY 23 1855) that on arrival was readdressed to Dublin arriving July 26th. It was again readdressed as the addressee was in the 6th Light Dragoons and it was endorsed at the top ‘Embarked for Crimea’ so the cover was returned to London where a red boxed ‘RETURNED FOR 3d POSTAGE’ h/s was applied and the cover then returned to sender. A very interesting cover- of note, the 6th Light Dragoons took part in the Charge of the Light Brigade on 25 October 1854.
