CHAHBAR. 1916 censored cover to Capt. J. E. B. Hotson, Pangjgur (a town in Baluchistan, now Pakistan) that on arrival was forwarded to Chahbar. The cover has a Passed Censor ‘1’ Karachi on the front. The cover arrived in CHAHBAR 4 JAN 17 with a datestamp on the back. A very scarce cancel from this town in Persia on the Gulf of Oman, close to the India border. J. E. B. Hotson served in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers, 1915 to 1920, in Baluchistan and Persia, attaining the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Hotson was a dedicated naturalist who "collected plants in Persian Baluchistan and Makran coast, 1916-18, which were sent to Bombay".
