TRAIN FIRE. 1964 newspaper wrapper to London with an Irish 4d with indistinct cancel, that was involved in a fire on a train. The wrapper has a label stating that “The Postmaster is very sorry that this packet has been accidentally damaged / delayed in the post” and has a MACLESFIELD 9 JU 64 datestamp. A manuscript “This was involved in fire on the Manchester to London Express on June 9 64” explanatory note is on the wrapper. Nothing to date is known about this incident and this item is the first to be recorded from it.
