1836 folded letter from Ballyrobin to Lynchburgh, Virginia, U.S.A. with a red ‘PER BELFAST & NEW YORK PACKET / SHIP SARAH SHEAFE / ABRm BELL & CO OWNERS / No 80 PINE STREET NEW YORK’ cachet on the back. This is the only recorded example of this cachet and an article from the Stamp Collector magazine accompanies it. On the front of the letter is a NEW YORK SHIP APR 21 transit cancel. A fine and very rare transatlantic letter.
