1868 cover to the “State Pontifica” – Vatican – with two 6d Plate 6, lettered N C / O C. tied by barred ‘307’ cancels with a LISTOWEL AU 25 68 datestamp beneath. On the back are Limerick AU 25, London AU 26 and Rome transit and arrival cancels. Plate 6 is scarce on cover, and this to an interesting and unusual destination.
