1958 censored cover to Sean Cronin at The Curragh Concentration Camp with a 2d cancelled CORCAIGH 21 XII 1958. A violet single line Irish 'PASSED BY CENSOR' cachet has been applied. This is unusual as normally they were bilingual. Cronin, who became the Director of Operations for the I R A and the I R A Chief of Staff, was instrumental in organizing ‘Operation Harvest’ an I R A campaign that was launched against British Military and Irish police. He was arrested in Dublin in September 1958 and sent to the Curragh. A very rare cover to Cronin in the Curragh ‘Concentration Camp’.
